Frances, known by her family and friends as MeMaw, was a strong and courageous woman who always led by example. MeMaw graduated from Ennis High school in 1956. In 1974, she worked as a waitress at Sambo’s where she caught the eye of her late husband David “Poppy”. On December 26, 1974, they were married, Poppy gained a wife and four children. She worked at Texas Instruments for 30 years and retired in 1990. MeMaw still full of life and adrenaline wasn’t quite ready to fully retire just yet, so she began employment working as a correctional officer at Boyd Prison Unit in Teague, TX. She quickly gained the respect of the inmates and staff members where she adopted the name “Granny Warboots”. MeMaw enjoyed traveling and seeing different parts of the world. Especially when she got to visit different casinos to play on the penny slot machines and often won. She was spontaneous and family never knew when she may show up on their doorstep just to say hello. Family and friends could always count on MeMaw as she was a pillar in our family, she will remain dear in our hearts forever and ever.
