Frances Eliza Sistar's Obituary
Frances Jones Kennington Sistar was born in Erwin, Tennessee on February 25, 1921. She went to her eternal home in heaven on February 6, 2016. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was the daughter of Rev James W. and Luva Moore Jones. Frances attended Mars Hill College and Appalachian State University before postponing the rest of her education to marry Buddy Kennington in 1941 just as WWII was beginning. She lived in Jacksonville, Florida from 1943 until 1967 and had one daughter, Pat Kennington Miller. After the death of her husband, Frances returned to the classroom and finished her elementary education degree. She married Clarence Sistar in 1967 and moved to South Carolina where she taught lst grade and kindergarten for 20 years. When they both retired from teaching, Frances and Clarence moved to Cherryville, NC to be close to family. In 2001, Frances moved to Dallas, TX to be closer to her daughter, granddaughters, and great grandchildren. She was very active in her church, Gaston Oaks Baptist Church and her retirement home, White Rock Court. She loved to travel and read. When dementia set in, she moved to Walnut Place for full time care. Frances is preceded in death by her parents and two spouses. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Dave Miller; her granddaughter, Laura Adams and husband lance, great grandchildren, Taylor Adams and Connor Adams, all of Dallas; and granddaughter Elizabeth Miller of Alexandria, VA. We thank all her wonderful caregivers at Walnut Place and Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Visitation will be held on held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 from 6- 8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 11 AM at Gaston Oaks Baptist Church.
