I am writing this message, mainly to myself I suppose, to let people know how sad it is that my Mom never got to see or hold her great grandsons. Thank God she did get to have time with her grandchildren, Wilson and Connie. They were the special lights in her life. Her whole family was important to her and she was dearly loved and is continualy missed by them to this day. I love you Mom. Cyndi
I miss my Mother every day and all the love she had for me, as well as her 2 grandchildren. I am fortunate indeed to have had her for a Mother. She taught me many things about life, love and the pursuit of happiness. I hope she is dancing a million miles with Daddy now in heaven. He was the true love of her life and I was an extension of that, as were Wilson and Connie. I look forward to being with the family again as we were really a family in the truest sense of the word. Mom was the glue that bound us. Odd that I am now the oldest living member of our little circle, making me an orphan now as well…life is strange!
Connie was the most caring and energetic person I ever knew. I first "met" her through the eyes of Rowland. She was the beautiful vibrant woman who came to Dallas during the war to work on Mustang airplanes and seemed able to accomplish any task with ease and a big smile. She became his authority on everything from family history, to medicine to fashion. He looked up to her then and always and I innately knew that she was the standard to which he held up all women. When he told about how she could make peanut brittle at the drop of a hat I knew right then I could never measure up. When at last I had a chance to meet this awesome woman I expected to be intimidated but instead found warm and unconditional acceptance. I witnessed first hand her humor and capability. Connie was able to actually do something in the time it would take someone else to think of it. Once when she got a new frying pan instead of just showing it to me she concocted an omelet right on the spot! Whether it was an omelet or a wedding party she could organize it down to the smallest detail. I can still hear her saying. "Going all around your elbow to get to your thumb", "ring-tail tooter" and many other lively expressions. Even if they were already "Texas-isms", Connie gave them new meaning. It was the life she put into it, the life that she brought to everything she touched. If you came into Connie's circle of warmth and radiance you could count yourself very fortunate indeed. There will never be anyone else like her.
We will miss seeing Ms Wilson's smiling face, she would always light up the room. We knew Francis for a very short time and enjoyed every little visit we had.
Aunt Connie was always the happiest, most fun loving person I have ever met. I haven't seen her enough in the past few years, but I'll miss her, as if I was with her every day. I'm sorry that I will not be at the funeral. I have many wonderful memories and fabulous recipes from this beautiful person. Love, Susan
Connie was the most amazing Mother to her family and everyone she met. Her love was unconditional and abundant. She was simply the "Best". I will truly miss her.
On occasion, I experienced the pleasure of visiting with Connie when she, Cindy and the grandchildren would pay a visit to my parents, Virginia and George Nunn. The twinkle in her eye, laughter, and the adoring look on her face for her family is what stands out in my memory of her. Once again, Connie paid a visit. This time to me and my family when our mother went to be with the Lord…She and Cindy came to be at our side with support, love and words of comfort. I hope she knew how much her visits meant to my parents and to me and my family…Cindy, as one who shares the paralyzing pain you are feeling, I send to you my heartfelt sympanthy and prayers… Sue Ellen Fraser October 19, 2009
