Francis Van Gordon Butt's Obituary
Francis Van Gordon Butt, of Irving, Texas, departed this world on September 19, 2025 to be with her Lord and Savior. Francis was born in Ennis, Texas in 1936 to Charles and Price Butt. She lived her childhood in Dallas, Texas with her parents and brother. After graduating from Highland Park High School, she received a degree from Southern Methodist University. She later received her master’s degree from North Texas State University, now named University of North Texas. Francis lived most of her adult life in Irving, Texas. She had a career as a speech therapist in the Irving Independent School District. She is a member of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Charles and Price Butt; her brother, Charles Butt, Jr. and his wife, Geneva Butt; her great nephew Glenn Kasper and nephew in law, Jim Rainey. Those left to treasure her memory are her nieces, Jimmie Butt, Denise Kasper and Kathleen Rainey; her great nephew, Stephen Rainey and her great niece, Kaytlin Tucker and her great-great nephews, Harlan and Damon Kasper; and many cousins and friends.
Francis’ life was defined by her ambition, wit and devotion to her family and her dogs. She had a radiant spirit and adventurous soul. Her passions were many. Throughout her life she enjoyed bowling, swimming, camping, and walking her dogs. Francis also enjoyed playing board games and word puzzles. She found solace in playing the guitar or hammer dulcimer and in reading. Francis found joy in connection with others through conversations and was friends with many through her varied activities. She delighted in spending time with her family and friends.
As we celebrate her life and treasure her memory, may she find peace in the embrace of her Lord and Savior.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 1:30pm to 2:30am at Restland Funeral Home, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:30pm and the interment in Restland Cemetery and reception at Restland's Event Center.
