Francis John (Frank) Murphy age 91 born May 26, 1924 in Boyle, County Roscommon, Ireland and passed away November 25, 2015 at home in Dallas, Texas. Preceded in death by his son, Francis J. Murphy, Jr. (Frank), brothers, James, Patrick and Daniel Murphy and sister Mary M. Ryan. Survived by wife, Elizabeth (Barker) Murphy, daughter, Margaret and son-in-law Billy Cooper of North Richland Hills, Texas; son, Robert Murphy of Richardson, Texas; sister-in-law, Dolores Murphy of Brightwaters, New York; brother-in-law, Ralph Barker and wife Patricia of Yadkinville, North Carolina; brother-in-law, John Barker and wife Katherine of Newport News, Virginia; sister-in-law, Angie Painter and husband Max of Spartanburg, South Carolina and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank came to New York City at the age of four. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in 1941. He worked as a clerk at Solomon Brothers Stockbrokers briefly until he entered the U.S. Army and served as an aircraft mechanic, being honorably discharged in 1945. He attended Fordham University for four years, and New York University, majoring in philosophy. Frank then entered the property and casualty insurance industry, where he worked for General Cover Underwriters and the Pacific Insurance Company. Most of his career was spent with the Aetna Insurance Company, which was acquired by Cigna in 1982. He remained with Cigna until retirement as a senior property and casualty underwriter. Service will be held Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, Dallas.
