Francis Osei-Karikari's Obituary
Francis Osei-Karikari affectionately known as Bra Naasei was born in Kumasi on April 30th, 1956 to Barima Osei-Karikari, Abusuapayin of the Asanteman Oyoku Clan of Manhyia Palace in Asante and Grace Hagan from Ekumfi Narkwa in the Central Region.
After secondary school, he left Kumasi for Dallas, TX where he enrolled at University of Texas in Arlington.. He went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, quickly developing an expertise in systems analysis.
Upon graduation and working in the industry for a couple of years he started a family with Joyce Granaham and together they had 3 daughters: Victoria Abena Osei, Janice Adwoa Osei, and Rebecca Amma Osei. He was an avid reader and he enjoyed reading about Ashanti history because of his royal heritage. He was one of the founding members of the Ashanti Education Fund here in DFW which was able to raise money through yearly fund-raising activities. These funds were then channeled to the Otumfuor Education fund to enable under privileged students further their education.
Francis had a great love for all kinds of music especially jazz and he loved listening to Miles Davis. During his leisure time he enjoyed attending jazz concerts with his brothers and friends.
Working through the years as a systems analyst, he eventually worked at Baylor Hospital where he finally retired in April 2021. He went to be with the Lord on September 25th, 2021.
Francis Osei is survived by his 3 daughters, and his family in the U.S, Canada, England, Netherlands, and Ghana.
