Francis "Skip" Sullivan, Jr.'s Obituary
Skip Sullivan, of Richardson, Texas, passed away October 29th, 2017. He was born on July 1st, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas to Merry Brendel Sullivan and Francis C. Sullivan, Sr.As a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Skip was all about faith and family. He graduated from Alamo Heights H.S. in 1958 and went on to earn his B.A. in Liberal Arts from UT Austin in 1961, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. After graduation he completed his graduate work at Trinity University and spent his professional career in the insurance industry. His positions included Regional VP of CNA Insurance of Chicago, Senior VP of Southwestern Life, Senior VP of Fidelity Union and Regional Director of Philadelphia Life Insurance Company. He obtained both the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations.He married Charlotte Pauline Becker on July 21, 1962 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Austin. They moved to Dallas in 1967 and settled in Richardson in 1969 where they have lived ever since. Skip was very active in his children’s lives, serving as coach to many teams, president of both JJ Pearce Booster Club and the PTA. He was an active member of All Saints Catholic Community where he was a founding member. Skip was an active member of the Parkinson Voice Project where he enjoyed performing with The LOUD Crowd.Survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlotte Becker Sullivan, son Francis Cullen “Hop” Sullivan III and wife Holly Barkley Sullivan, son Michael Paul Sullivan and wife Kim Singleton Sullivan and son-in-law Steven Michael O’Brien. Grandad to Michael and Katie O’Brien, Shelby, Luke and Annie Frances Sullivan and Lauren Sullivan. Preceded in death by parents, Francis and Merry Sullivan, sister Kathy Sullivan Harris and daughter Shannon Sullivan O’Brien.Skip would like to be remembered for what he considers his greatest undertaking and most satisfying success, raising three children who grew to be wonderful adults as well as his grandchildren who were his pride and joy!Rosary/Visitation – Thursday, November 2nd 6:00-8:00pm Restland Funeral Home.
