Frank Edward Davis' Obituary
DAVIS, FRANK EDWARD Passed away at home on February 14, 2009. He was born May 30, 1929, in Rule, Texas, to James Elmon and Delma Ora Wilson Davis. He attended school in Sweetwater, Santo, Greenville, and Dallas. Frank was a track letterman at North Dallas High School and North Texas State College. After two years of college he joined the U.S. Air Force serving four years that included a one-year tour of duty in Korea. After discharge from the service, he returned to NTSC graduating in 1956. Frank and Nelwyn Alfred met at NTSC and were married March 10, 1956 in Dallas. Frank joined the Dallas Independent School District in January 1957 as a physical education instructor at Greiner Junior High School. In September 1957, he transferred to the newly opened Bryan Adams High School, where he remained as head track coach, assistant football coach, and history teacher through May 1976. He worked as a film grader for the Dallas Cowboys during the 70’s. After leaving DISD he worked for Athletic Supply and Copy Craft Office Supply. Predeceased by mother, father, and brother, James Elmon Davis, Jr., he is survived by his wife; sisters, Dorothy Bowman and husband, Jon, of Austin, Virginia Shearer of San Antonio, and Dee Sellers, of Georgetown; several nieces, nephews and cousins; fellow alumni of North Dallas High School; and associates of his coaching career. Visitation will be from 5-7pm, Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Restland Wildwood Chapel, with Rev. Paul Ramler officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Texas, 1440 W. Mockingbird Ln., Ste 500, Dallas, TX 75247.
