A funeral service for Frank L. Kuenstler will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00PM at the Walnut Hill Church of Christ in Dallas, Texas. Interment will take place at Restland Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas
Frank Lloyd Kuenstler was born June 24, 1928, in Hot Wells, Texas, a suburb of San Antonio, to Frank Henry and Eula Kuenstler. Frank grew up in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Hot Wells School in 1945. Frank met his future wife, Pat, through a fortuitous series of events during his senior year of high school. He was caught skipping class by the school's principal and was placed in Study Hall, where he selected a seat directly behind Pat Wyche, a new student at Hot Wells High School.
After graduating from high school, Frank joined the U.S. Navy, which had been a longtime childhood ambition. While aboard the USS Dennis J. Buckley, a destroyer in the South Pacific, the ship's captain offered to recommend him to attend the U.S. Naval Academy personally, but Frank declined that significant offer from the captain. Frank was ready to return to San Antonio and continue his courtship with his future wife, Pat.
As a result of Frank and Pat's fortunate study hall meeting, they married on September 4, 1948. They immediately moved to Abilene, Texas, and entered Abilene Christian College as freshmen. After transferring to Southwest Texas State Teachers College (now Texas State University),
San Marcos, Texas, they continued their education together until Pat temporarily suspended her education because of the birth of their first daughter, Sheryl, and Frank graduated in 1951. After graduating from college, Frank began his business career in the water utilities industry by working for his father-in-law in the construction industry, building water and wastewater treatment plants. In 1954, he was employed by
the Mueller Co. as a salesman selling fire hydrants, gate valves, and other products for installation in water systems throughout west and north Texas. In 1972, after 18 years with the Mueller Co., Frank resigned to become a vice president of Trans-Tex Supply Company, a distributor of water utility products for the construction of water and wastewater systems. He also served on the board of directors of Trans-Tex Supply Company and Trans-Tex Fabricating Company. After 17 years with Trans-Tex Supply Company, he resigned to become a regional sales representative for Hobas Pipe USA, a fiberglass water and sewer pipe manufacturer. In 1993, Frank established Trans-Tex Sales Company, an independent sales agency representing a large-diameter PVC sewer pipe manufacturer.
Frank and Pat had a very successful and prolific marriage of 73 years, producing four children, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Pat went home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2021. Frank and Pat longed for the day they would rest with Jesus together for eternity. They desired that everyone would come to know the Jesus they knew and loved.
