Frank Gene Newman's Obituary
Newman, Frank Gene, a native of Dallas, Texas was born on August 12, 1922 and passed away peacefully on November 18, 2013. He graduated from Highland Park High School and Southern Methodist University. Frank served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, returning to graduate from Yale Law School at the top of his class. He built a prestigious and successful law firm Newman, Davenport and Epstein and practiced law for fifty years. He was a member of the Dallas and American Bar Associations. Frank published numerous articles on such topics as employer and employee contracts, the life insurance industry and merger and acquisitions. Frank was a past president of the Glen Lakes Community Board after retiring to Glen Lakes for 25 years. He received the Spiral of Life award from the Leukemia Society, serving on both the national and local boards. He was a leading participant in the society’s annual tele-event, fund raising and special events activities. He was also a founding member of St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Dallas. Frank was highly respected for his dynamic confidence, integrity and devotion to family and friends. He was and is the quintessential role model. Frank is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Graham Newman. He is survived by his sons, Larry Newman and wife, Nancy of Dallas, Steve Newman and wife, Holly of Lodi, California, Richard Nwman and wife, Tibbie of Dallas; grandchildren, Courtney Newman Flanagan, Torrey Newman, Micah Newman, Allison Newman Murashige, Christie Newman King, Elisabeth Newman Hensel, Jonathan Newman, Meg McMillan, Sara Mayes and Christopher Newman, 14 great grandchildren; nephew, David Newman and niece, Candy Newman. Other survivors are his wife, Martha Melton Newman, and daughters, Linda Ensley and husband, Art of Houston, Robin Keener and husband, Tab of Dallas, Laura Sorflaten and husband, Todd of Dallas; and grandchildren, Wil and Cole Keener, Lake Ensley, and Lollie Sorflaten. Services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2013, 2 PM at St Luke’s Episcopal Church, 5923 Royal Lane, Dallas, Texas 75230. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphona Society, www.lls.org, (972) 239-0959.
