Frank Ellis Sparks' Obituary
Frank Ellis Sparks, a devoted father, proud Navy veteran, and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in Quinlan, Texas. Born on May 3, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, Frank lived a life defined by service, love, and unwavering strength.
Frank served his country honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Bennington for six years. His time in the military shaped his character, disciplined, resilient, and fiercely loyal. After returning home, he began a new chapter, marrying the love of his life, Judith Evelyn Sparks.
Together, they raised three beautiful daughters: Barbara S. Tew, Teresa L. Sparks, and Kathryn I. Devers. His girls were his pride and joy, and they remained faithfully by his side throughout his life,
including in his final days.
Frank's work ethic was unmatched. He started out as a gas station attendant before embarking on a 40-year career as an over-the-road truck driver. He traveled countless miles across the country, always returning home with stories, laughter, and love. In retirement, he found new purpose in serving fellow veterans through AMVETS, where he became Commander of Post 36 and later State Commander. His leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the organization and the lives of
many.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Judith, his mother Katy Sparks, sons-in-law Kurt Behrenbruch and Dennis Devers, and his lifelong best friend Johnny McNeice. Frank is now reunited
with them, and with many others who went before him.
He is survived by his daughters Barbara, Teresa, and Kathryn; his sister Unafay Lockett and her husband Ardin; his grandchildren Daniel O. Tew Jr., Haley L. Hargrove (Barnaby Smallwood), and Syrenea McDole (Doug Kolkow); and his great-grandchildren Ashtin Cortez (Rudy Cortez), Dakota Tew, Madison Tanton, Logan Tew, Nevaeh Allgood, Levi Allgood, Colt Smallwood, Ryder Baker, Mary Mercer, Joseph Kolkow, Kodi Smallwood, and Rohan Smallwood. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will carry his memory forward.
Frank Sparks was loved beyond measure and will be missed beyond words. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his spirit will continue to guide and inspire. Until we are reunited—we love you.
