Frank Stephen Stobie's Obituary
Frank Stobie was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 28, 1954, to Jack and Lavelle Stobie. He was the 5th of 8 children.
He is preceded in death by both Jack and Lavelle Stobie, brother Mark, sister Jean, and son Brian. He is survived by his ex-wife and lifelong friend Colleen Byrne-Stobie, daughter Adrienne Donnell, son-in-law Dan Donnell, and granddaughters, Loralei Stobie and Olivia Donnell, his brother and best friend Jay Stobie, Bill Stobie and sisters Pat Priesmeyer, Joan Obermoeller, and Mary Jill Poncin. as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was educated at St. Simon Catholic School, Lindbergh High School where he was an All-County Half-Back, University of Wyoming, graduating from Washington University in St. Louis with a B.A. in Economics. He was also a CPA. He had 30-year career in accounting and consulting, working for Coca Cola, Fujitsu, PwC and IBM. He traveled internationally for work and fun, including trips to China, India, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico, and a plethora of ballparks throughout the US.
He had a car accident in his early 20’s which left him a T-4 paraplegic but didn’t leave him embittered. He threw himself into life having a family, a career, participating in athletics whether throwing a football to Adrienne, cycling, or scuba diving in Mexico. He was a modern, everyday Renaissance man with interests ranging from sports, to cooking, to music, and art. He loved talking about politics, his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and was a great listener. He never met a stranger.
Frank endured a lot of struggles in his final years which was a test of his character. He wasn’t happy about that but kept on. He entered hospice in December 2022, and his body finally gave out on April 10, 2023. Frank will be remembered and missed by all that knew him. He was loved.
