Frank Signel Williams' Obituary
Frank Signel Williams, loving husband, dad, Papaw, uncle and friend passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020, at his home in Gun Barrel City, Texas. He was born in Bogata, Texas on September 12, 1933. He was preceded in death by his parents Harvin Williams and Myrtle Marie Collins, brother Billy Williams and sister-in-law Wanda Williams, brother in law Roy Wilson.
Frank was proud of his service as a Dallas Police Officer for 32 years, retiring as ( Sergeant in 1987. He played an integral role in the capture of Lee Harvey Oswald in the Texas Theater after the assassination of President Kennedy. Another highlight of Frank's career was providing security for John Wayne when he was in Dallas.
Frank was a police officer through and through. After retirement, he drove his golf cart every morning patrolling the area around his home at Cedar Creek Lake. He enjoyed playing golf with his family and buddies at Van Zandt Country Club for many years. Frank loved people. He appreciated a captive audience and was a master storyteller. The family knew most of his stories by heart, but at times he would slip in a surprise ending. What Frank treasured most of all were the times he spent with his family, playing poker, throwing washers and corn hole bags, cruising the lake on the pontoon and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys while drinking a cold beer.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Ann Williams; children, Randy Williams and wife, Debbie, Gary Williams and wife, Pam, Debi Lokey and husband, Eric; brother-In-law Rick Fowler; nieces Tina Williams and Jeanne Olson; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank Caring Hearts Hospice in Gun Barrel City, especially Serena, Kay and Regina for their care and loving support.
We are remembering dad with a contribution to the Assist the Officers Foundation. As an expression of sympathy we welcome donations in the name of Frank Williams 1247 in Lieu of Flowers.
