Frankie Mae Walton's Obituary
It has pleased God almighty to call home to her reward Mrs. Frankie Mae Walton, of Dallas Texas.
Born to the union of Monroe ll and Avie Broadnax, on July 1 1937, in Karnack, Texas, Cass County.
She was baptized in Karnack, Texas at Colliers Chapel Baptist Church. She attended Traylor High school in Hughes Springs, where she met and married Lee Morris Walton. She and her family united with Bethany Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, and Junior Mission President. In 1981 she became a Charter Member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas under the leadership of her husband, Pastor Lee Walton. Sis. Walton served as First Lady, Sunday School Teacher, Mission President, Deaconess, member of the Antioch Senior Choir and the Mission Chorus. She also served as President of the Ministers Wives and Widows of the Greater Rising Star District Association.
Mrs. Walton received a Bachelor of Science degree from Bishop College and a Master of Science degree from Texas A & M University at Commerce, Texas. She was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Sorority. She began her teaching career in 1964 in Dallas ISD. She taught for 27 years and retired with the love and admirations of students, peers and leaders.
Her oldest daughter Carolyn Mays, brothers, Leroy Broadnax, Eddie Coverson, Willie Lee Coverson, Ned Broadnax, and Monroe Broadnax III and sisters Ada Weisner and Queen Hunter, have all preceded her to glory. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 64 years, Rev. Dr. Lee M. Walton, 3 children, Cynthia (Phillip), Sandra, and Byron, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Sis. Walton will be remembered for addressing the congregation by reciting her favorite verse:
"This is the day which the Lord hath made; We will rejoice and be glad in it." Ps 18:24
