Fred Burnette Bearden III's Obituary
BEARDEN, FRED B., III The world is a bit darker and the laughter more subdued with the passing of Biff Bearden (Fred B. Bearden III), September 29, 1952-March 17, 2011. He was raised in Richardson, Texas, by Fred and Betty Bearden, and, along with his sister Devon, spent many summers in Cape Cod. He served honorably in the National Guard before joining his father’s business, Fred B. Bearden Co., Food Service Representatives. In his professional life, it was Biff’s natural talent for sales and customer service that led him to launch his own successful business, B&L Marketing, which he nurtured from 1986 to 2004. After selling his company in 2004, Biff became a partner with E-Source equipment, bringing the manufacturing lines he had acquired and grown in his business with him to his new position. He was known for putting his clients’ interests first, and he thrived on solving problems, even if it meant paying for extra costs personally. In his personal life, it was his charm, warmth, and energetic spirit that led to a wealth of lasting friendships. Biff Bearden was always the center of a good time. He was quick to share his passions for music and exercise through open invitations to concerts (he enjoyed countless performances – from rock to jazz to Dallas Symphony Orchestra programs – in his lifetime) and providing inspiration to run one more mile (he completed three half-marathons and numerous other races). These were early and consistent loves in his life. He was a track and field star in high school, but as the drummer in a band called Our Imagination Group, that star really shined and attracted a number of “groupies,” which Biff seemed to do no matter what the activity. He is equally remembered for his love of the arts and of animals. As with his friends, his generosity knew no bounds for incredible artwork (or the funds to support incredible artwork) and an animal in need. He found many homes for both (including his own) throughout his life. Biff’s humor, energy, generosity, and ability to make any event an exceptionally fun and happy occasion will forever be missed. He is survived by his best friend, Lisa Tench Bearden, his sister Devon Stiles, nephew Fran Godenzi, Aunt Barbara and Uncle Fran Hoffman, and godchildren Lindsay and Evan Laws. The sadness and loss we share is incomparable. Services will be held 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Operation Kindness at operationkindness.org/donate/index/php#special.
