Fred Ronald Duncan's Obituary
Fred Ronald “Ron” Duncan, 72, went to his Heavenly home on October 2, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. after a year long struggle with heart disease. Ron was born in Cleburne, Texas, July 28, 1943. Leaving Cleburne as a teenager, he moved to Amarillo, Texas. He graduated from Amarillo High School where he met and married his high school sweetheart Jackie Williams. He attended Amarillo Junior College and Dallas Baptist College. Ron is preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert; his mother, Dee Rust Duncan Ross; his father, Fred Duncan. His brother-in-law, Don Williams and several aunts and uncles. After marriage and the birth of his son, Ron returned to the Dallas area and began his illustrious career in transportation. Beginning with Trans-Cold Express in Irving as a young man of 19 and ending with his favorite, Fresherized Foods in Saginaw, Texas. By some, Ron was considered an icon in transportation. He was told that he had forgotten more about transportation than some would ever learn. He was a mentor to many and so pleased to see them grow and start companies of their own. Ron was an avid drag racer, beginning as a teenager. This love of racing was passed to his son. What a drag racing team they would become! Many fond memories of racing and friends left to cherish. Ron leaves behind his loving wife, Jackie; niece, Christi Newman and great niece, Emma Claire of Longview; nephew, Michael Williams of Redondo Beach, CA.; his sister-in-law, Ruth Williams of Amarillo; his beloved Aunt Georgia Duncan of North Richland Hills; step mother, Nita Duncan; half brother, and sister, Todd Duncan and Lisa Duncan Pelletier. Ron will be forever grateful to dear friends Mark and JoAnn Bramhall for being his rock when all he had left were pebbles. Oh, how he loved you. His love to Randy Ussery, his son Robert’s best friend. Thank you Randy for being the friend you are still. Ron’s wife Jackie wishes to express her sincere gratitude to the heart transplant team at Medical City Dallas. Namely, Dr. Oewey, Dr. Eichhorn, Dr. Shulkin, Dr. Horowitz and LVAD coordinators Darinka and Amanda. Our Ally Home Health nurses, aides and PI’s. The entire staff, 6th floor, bldg. E, East and West wing all the way down to housekeeping. The care, compassion and love shown to us will never be forgotten. At Ron’s request there will be no service only visitation. Visitation will be Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 1-3 PM at Restland Memorial Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
