Fred was a free spirit who became a friend after our meeting while we both were serving aboard the Eugene A. Greene (DD 711). The experiences and good times we shared were many. Fred had a way of being mischievous but always good hearted and constantly making you smile. I admired his love of music and his ability to teach himself how to play. Not too long after going our separate ways from the Navy, Fred called me to ask a favor. He wanted me to look out for his niece Sally Darlene who was moving to the Washington DC area. From that point I became a 'defacto' member of the family. Fred paid me the ultimate honor by naming his son Corey Dale. I got to meet and thoroughly enjoy members of his wonderful and fun loving family. Sally and I remain close friends for which I am so greateful. Fred left us way too early but left his mark on all of us. Godspeed my friend
