Mr. Frederick Carney Fischer's Obituary
FISCHER, FREDERICK C. USMC, RET., born February 28, 1924, in New Haven, Conn, passed away August 15, 2007, in Dallas, TX. He joins his parents, Ferne Vodak and John Fischer, his wife Roene, and his brother Jack. Fred is survived by his daughter Pam and Don Gray of Austin, his son Kurt and Joanne Fischer of Plano, grandchildren Jason and Taia Gray, Jeremy and Ashley Gray, Sarah Fischer, Katie Fischer, and Stephen Fischer, and by his loving and wonderful Lou Davies. Fred joined the Marine Corp in 1942 and served proudly in the South Pacif ic, mainly on the islands of Guadalcanal, Mindinao and Luzon in the Phillipines. Fred was a Marine until the day he died. He was educated at Drake University and began a career in the insurance business following World WarII. Fred made many life long friends during his 29 year career with General Reinsurance. During his retirement years Fred traveled extensively and also enjoyed being an avid golfer. More recently, he has enjoyed the friendships of his “Kroger Coffee Club Bunch”. Fred’s family is very grateful to Angi and Sheila for the kind and gentle care they gave. Fred was well respected and loved by many and will be greatly missed. Services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Restland Abbey Chapel in Dallas. Instead of flowers, Fred would appreciate a donation to the Marine Corp Toys for Tots, PO Box 1947, Quantico, VA 22134.
