Frederick Albert Gentzler's Obituary
Frederick Albert Gentzler was born on December 5th, 1931 to Edward & Mary Gentzler in York, PA. Growing up he participated in sports and Boy Scouts. He helped his father and uncles with jobs from dairy farms to tile work.
After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Shreveport, LA as an MP. This is where he met Valeta Young and they were married on August 29. 1955. They just celebrated their 68th Anniversary in August.
They moved to Abilene, TX so that Valeta could graduate and Fred received his degree in accounting from Abilene Christian College and became a CPA. They had 2 children while living there, Stan and Judy.
They moved to Dallas and had 2 more children, Stephen and Janean, and have lived here for over 60 years. Fred loved his family. He attended numerous games and performances for each of his children. This love flowed over to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He supported them in all their endeavors and celebrated all their accomplishments.
He was very active in the church at Garland Road Church of Christ (later became Highland Oaks Church of Christ) where he loved to sing with the church wedding/funeral group and was very active with his class group. He instilled in his children the love of Christ and the desire to help others. After all their children had grown up, they settled in at Saturn Road Church of Christ.
One of his favorite pastimes was working on the land he purchased in Lone Oak, TX. He could be found there most holidays and weekends mowing, cutting brush, playing in the woodworking shop he built or just sitting outside enjoying the beauty. He also loved to cook. You could always catch him watching the cooking shows or making something new (most of the time it was really good). He was a big traveler. He loved meeting new people and learning new cultures He loved to talk with people. He always had a story to tell.
In the last few months, he was ready to go be with his Lord. He knew that there was a place for him free from pain and worry where he could continue watching his family thrive. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
