Mr. Frederick William Johnson's Obituary
JOHNSON, FREDRICK WILLIAM of Sachse, TX passed away April 13, 2007, just 12 days before his 86th birthday. Fred was an engineer with Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, IA. He later transferred to Richardson, TX serving as director of engineering with Collins/Rockwell until his retirement in 1983. He then served many major corporations as a consulting engineer until full retirement in 1999. Fred was preceded in death by his wife Ann, his son Phillip and his sister Verna. He is survived by his wife Christine of Sachse, TX; son Glenn and daughter-in-law Gwen of Burbank, WA, daughter-in-law Karen Johnson, McKinney, TX; sister Bea and brother-in-law Phil Erickson in Tempe, AZ and nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fred was loved by many, and revered for his strength of character and ability to solve problems. He loved and restored the Corvair automobile. Another passion was great fireworks with the Pyrotechnics Guild International and spectacular fireworks shows. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Fred will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association at 8440 Walnut Hill Lane, Suite 800, Dallas, TX 75231.
