Frederick John Ringley's Obituary
Frederick John Ringley, son of Frederick William Ringley and Helen Finn Ringley, died February 8th, 2023 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Born in Evanston, Illinois, he attended St. Francis Xavier grammar school in Wilmette, Illinois, graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, and DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana with. B.A. in English Composition. He went on to serve for two years in the United States Army in Fürth (Nürnberg), Germany during which time he wrote for The Stars and Stripes, the U.S. Military’s daily newspaper.
Fred married Catherine Ann (Katie) Oatis of Evanston, Illinois in 1959 and together they raised five children. During his working career he served as a copy editor, advertising salesman, farmer, disc jockey, landscaper, restaurant owner and operator, fire systems installer, funeral monument salesman, and in his semi-retirement in Texas, a retail sales clerk. He was a voracious reader and classical music aficionado; a man for all seasons.
Fred died a faithful Catholic on the 17th anniversary of his beloved wife Katie’s death. He is survived by his five children and his sister Barbara A. Ringley. The family is grateful to Fred’s friends and caregivers at Brookgate Healthcare in Fort Worth, and to the staff and parishioners of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish also in Fort Worth for the kindness and aid they provide for Fred in his final years.
Please pray for the repose of the souls of Fred and Katie. May they rest together in the peace of Christ.
