Fred and Betty were our neighbors, but they were so much more than that. Fred was such a special person, and I don't think we will ever forget his sweet, gentle nature. He was such a strength to our family and we were so blessed to have known him and Betty. Our love and our prayers go to Betty and the family. Fred was my cousin and what I remember most about him was his beautiful smile and his winning personality. I enjoyed so much seeing Betty and Fred at the family reu nion. I let my hair go gray and he berated me terribly and so with his input and other family members I once again colored my hair.
Fred was like a Dad to me and my brother Steve, when we were very young we would hang out at the print shop where Fred was a pressman there. As kids we would drive him crazy getting into trouble. When we were little older in our teens we would go over to there house and play ping pong and to watch Dallas Cowboys games. Fred was a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan and was very competitive in sports and he played golf on weekends. My best memory is going down to San Angelo, TX for the McCleery reunion every year on July 4th and Thanksgiving. We will all miss him dearly.

Aunt Betty, I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Fred. He was a great uncle. I know he helo my mom,Frances alot. I remember him teaching mom to drived. She had been driving only a short time when she and I were in an accident going to the print shop. We were not hurt but mom did not want to drive again. Fred nade her he said Frabces you are going to drive us home. And she did in doing this she help alot if relatives get arround Dallas. Iknow everyone will miss him. Dear Betty and Family, For 6 wonderful years you and Fred touched our lives very deeply. Fred was always there to help with something I did not know how to fix or simply lend a helping hand he could fix anything. Fred once said he learned from Betty's father "you never really owned something until you gave it away." Fred was always giving me things. But my most memorable moment with Fred was the day before we moved to North Carolina Fred said he had a special gift for me and to come over and see him later. I went to see him later to recieve the special gift he had for me. This time the special gift was different from all the others the gifts Fred shared with me. His gift for me was to know God and he shared how God had changed his life. Fred and I talked about many things during our six years together as neighbor's, but of all our times we shared that was the most special gift he ever shared with me. Dear Betty and Family: We were very saddened by Fred's passing and will miss him terribly. Fred was a wonderful neighbor. We will never forget him and all of his kindnesses towards me, Paul, and Cole. He was always smiling, extremely helpful, and had so much good advice. Fred was a unique and distinguished individual, a person who would go out of his way for someone he didn't "know" just because they were his neighbor. He was a man of great character and class. When I was little he worked late a lot, part of the hazards of owning your own business. The neighborhood kids would be playing barefoot in our lush yard of soft, cool St. Augustine grass, under the two silver-leaf maple trees by the curb. He would come driving up in his white '67 Mustang, which was brand new then. It seemed like life didn't begin for Mother and I until he got home. I'd follow him in and I'd start to tell him about my day and he'd say, "Wait a minute. Let me take my skis off." And we'd all laugh. The smell of newly mowed grass, printer's ink and chemicals will always take me back to that happy time.
