We do hope you will join us in celebrating her life. Her son, Rev. Gaylan Grant, will be officiating.
Born in Garland, she was the youngest child born to Jones Madison and Fannie Myrtle (nee Gauldin) Clack. She married the late, Rev. S.M. Grant in 1939. She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, her husband, a daughter in law, a grand daughter and as she would say, “almost all of my friends.”
She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Doyce Grant (Dee), Frenda Bjornlie (Carter), Gaylan Grant (Beverly), and Daryl Grant Alicia); ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister in law Helen (nee Grant) Peeples.
Being a minister’s wife was not always an easy life, but over the years she made many friends. She was often asked to play the piano or organ for congregational singing. She had her own Gospel style that people loved. Together with Dad, they pioneered new congregations in the Assemblies of God in Balch Springs, Texas and in Kingsville, Texas. They were also traveling evangelists for a time, traveling all over South, East, and North Texas as well as an extended stint in Arizona and New Mexico. Their last pastorate was Casa View Assembly of God, in Dallas, TX. After that, they were long time members of Dallas First Assembly of God.
Fredna was an accomplished pianist and was known, not only for her gospel music, but also for playing dinner music at several Furr’s Cafeterias in the DFW area. She was an insurance claims approver for many years with John Hancock and the Associates Insurance Group. For several years after her retirement, she stayed active as a receptionist at Restland Funeral home. Fredna celebrated her 100th birthday last October.
Ma’am Ma, as she was known to all the family, had predicted she would “go in the rapture” and not die. She recently informed us that “the rapture is getting really close.” Certain that she would outlive us all, we are saddened by her passing but excited that she is now breathing celestial air and has heard the commendation of her Savior Jesus Christ: “Well done Thou good and faithful servant. You were faithful… enter into the joy of your master.” She can now take her place in that heavenly grandstand as a part of the “so great a cloud of witnesses” mentioned in the book of Hebrews. Truly we have lost a loving and godly woman. We will cherish our memories of her.
