G. Frank Brown's Obituary
BROWN, G. FRANK: Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Air Force, retired. Born in Ravenna, Texas on August 7, 1923. Passed away in Dallas, Texas on August 4, 2014. After 18 years on the family farm, he joined the Army Air Corps in 1941. Fourteen months later, he received his wings and was commissioned as a B-17 pilot in Phoenix, Arizona. In April 1943, he flew his bomber to Africa making the overwater hop to Algeria where he joined the 97th Bomb Group. In completing his 50 missions over enemy territory, Frank received the Distinguished Flying Cross, two campaign ribbons and five Oak Leaf Clusters as individual awards. His group received a Citation for Valor in the North African and Mediterranean campaigns. After the war, Frank moved to Austin, Texas where he earned a law degree from the University of Texas. While there, he met June Ward, the love of his life who later became his wife of 65 years. Frank worked as a JAG prosecutor, a prosecutor for the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, and later, started his own law practice which he kept for 35 years. He is survived by wife, June W. Brown; sons, Randall F. Brown, Richard H. Brown and Ronald S. Brown; daughter, Elaine R. Brown; grandchildren, Regan Brown, Katelaine Brown, Curtis Brown and Alan Brown; sisters, Gwen Parker of Sulphur Springs and Dawn Dunn of Garland, Texas. Preceded in death by parents, Shelia Pearl Brown and Luther Frank Brown; sisters, Wonda Brown, Mary Foster, Sheila Lois Longley; brothers, Lora Ell Brown, Sylvanus Brown. Memorial Service will be held August 8, 2014 11:00 AM at Restland Memorial Chapel with a visitation at 9:00 AM . Private family internment service at the National Cemetery on August 11, 2014.
