GREEN – G. FORREST GREEN JR was born November 5, 1930, in Little Rock, Arkansas, and passed away on November 8, 2017, after a 9-month battle with bladder cancer. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Ann Sparkman Green. He is also survived by daughter Vicki and son-in-law Grady Frank of Richardson, son Alan Green and daughter-in-law Angela of Dallas, son Randy Green and daughter-in-law Sindy of Dallas, daughter Patti and son-in-law Jeff Young of Sandia Park, NM; 8 grandsons – Grayson and TJ (and wife Allison) Frank, David and Daniel Green, Randall (and wife Casey) and Ross Green, and Canyon and Cody Young; and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Virginia; his sister Marilyn Ryburn; and his parents Mary Louise and Forrest Green Sr.Forrest grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, and graduated from Central High School. He attended Vanderbilt University on a Navy ROTC scholarship, graduated with a degree in electrical engineering, and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After his marriage to Virginia and his naval service during the Korean War, including time aboard the aircraft carrier Leyte, he took a job as an electrical engineer with Texas Instruments in Dallas. Richardson became the family’s home in 1956, where he joined First United Methodist Church and became a member of the Pathfinders Class. Forrest avidly supported the performing arts in Richardson, attending the first concert by the Richardson Symphony, attending many performances by various art groups over several decades, serving on and as the chairman of the Richardson Arts Commission, participating in planning for the Eisemann Performing Arts Center, donating funds for the Forrest and Virginia Green Mezzanine Gallery at the Eisemann Center, and being awarded the Heart for the Arts award with his wife Ann. At the time of his death, Forrest was a resident at Highland Springs Retirement Community.Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church of Richardson (fumcr.com), the Richardson Symphony Orchestra (richardsonsymphony.org /399 West Campbell Road, Suite 200A, Richardson, TX 75080) , or the Plano Symphony Orchestra (planosymphony.org / 5236 Tennyson Parkway, Ste. 200. Plano, TX).A Memorial Service for Forrest will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church, 503 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, Texas, 75080.
