Garlen Wade McLain's Obituary
Garlen Wade McLain, “Coach McLain”, was born on March 30, 1956 in Pecos, Texas to the late Garlen Dwain Red McLain and Zelma Sue (Gunter) McLain. He passed away on August 1, 2011 in Plano, Texas at the age of 55. Wade is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Becky McLain; daughters, Stephanie Garcia and her husband, B. J. and Lindsey Groves and her husband Kody; sons, Rodney, David and Christian McLain; grandchildren, Stone and London Groves and Emerson and Ella Garcia; siblings, Gary Don McLain, Karen Watts, Fonda Graham, Nan Graham, Mitchell and Michael McLain and Sherma Bowen; mother-in-law, Mary Louise Baker; numerous nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws and other extended family members. Wade was a 1974 graduate of Pecos High Shcool. He also graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. Wade ws a committed Christ follower which was obvious to everyone he encountered. He was a teacher and proudly coached football and baseball at Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano. Visitation for Coach McLain will begin on Wednesday August 3, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 pm. at Restland Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Prestonwood Baptist Church with Pastor Jack Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park.
