Garnett Lolis Jones' Obituary
JONES, GARNETT LOLIS age 88, of Allen, TX died on November 29, 2013, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Garnett was born on March 19, 1925 in Yardell, AR, to Leonard and Donna Robinson. Growing up, she had 1 sister and 5 brothers. After graduating high school from School of Ozarks, she married her high school love Ralph Jones in 1942. They soon had 2 boys. Garnett spent her time nurturing her boys and taking care of the family home. Once the boys were grown, Garnett traveled with her husband and got to see many wonderful parts of the world. Unfortunately, her time was cut short with her husband when he died unexpectedly at a young age. Garnett carried on and lived an active lifestyle. She was a wonderful hands-on grandmother (and great-grandmother) who loved to play. She was a lifetime learner, always curious about the people and world around her. She was a talented oil painter and seamstress; she studied herbal medicine and astrology, and volunteered at the local hospital. She provided food and supplies to a local chapter of nuns for many years. She loved helping others. Garnett was very involved in church and had a strong faith in the Lord. In 1992 she found love again and married a family friend, Bill Niebel, a man who adored her. Together, they enjoyed being active members of the Gem and Mineral Society. Garnett is survived by her sons, Terry Jones of Allen, TX and David Jones of Houston, TX; 4 granddaughters and 2 great-granddaughters. She is also survived by her siblings and family members in Michigan and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, both of her loving husbands, and her brother, Estes Robinson. Garnett will be remembered most as being a wonderful nurturer, and having a pure heart and generous spirit. Service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 12:00 PM at Restland Memorial Chapel.
