Gary Lynn Adkins' Obituary
Gary Lynn Adkins, 66, of Plano, Texas passed away June 15, 2019 in Plano, Texas. He was the son of Jack Adkins and Lee and Eva Smith in Dallas, Texas.Having been born and growing up in Oak Cliff, he remained close to his many friends. His most special bond was with his teammates, better known as the “Band of Brothers” and friends, better known as the Bison Nation.Gary also confirmed his faith by accepting Jesus as his savior, was baptized in Carrollton, and later joined Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. A good number of his closest friends did not realize the strength of his faith, but his wife, Donna, did. A few of his very favorite verses were:“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:13“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” – Matthew 6:33“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths” Proverbs 3:6Even though his major health issues finally took him away from us too soon, he is now resting, pain free, in the arms of Jesus.Gary was a lifetime salesman, almost exclusively in the paper and printing industry for over 50 years. He was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.Gary is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Donna Adkins, daughters; Cheryl Newton and husband Chris of Keller, Texas, Jenifer Patterson and husband James, of Poetry, Texas, and Ashley Adkins and husband Matthew Kingsmore of McKinney, Texas, son, Matthew Adkins of North Fort Worth, 9 grandchildren, brothers Don Adkins and Lee Adkins and sisters Diette Barnett and Joy Walker, as well as a host of loving family and friends.Funeral Service will be Friday, June 28, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m… Visitation will be Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.… Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers family request donations be made in Gary Adkins name to the American Cancer Society.
