Helmke,Gary W age 70, of Garland, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Methodist Hospital of Richardson, Texas. He was born on July 24, 1943 in St. Paul, Minnesota to parents, William Helmke and Margaret Shelton. Gary was the second of their children. He married Patricia Chesnutt in Texarkana, Texas on July 1, 1967. They had 2 children. He attended Texas High, Texarkana, Texas and graduated in 1961. He served in the U.S. Rangers for 6 years, and is a veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a current resident of Garland, Texas for 38 years. He was employed by L3 as a Lead Inspector of QC for 25 years. Gary enjoyed the casinos, watching TV, his computer, and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Shelton. Gary will be remembered by his loving wife and their children, Billy Helmke 44 of Plano, Texas; Shane Helmke 40 of Dallas, Texas; father, Johnny Shelton of Garland, Texas; sister, Mariss Hartigan of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Billy Helmke of Oak Dale, Minnesota; and 9 grandchildren.
