Gary Wayne Mantooth's Obituary
Gary Wayne Mantooth, 61, of Mexia, TX, passed away on April 30, 2023. He was born on January 7, 1962, in Dallas, TX. Gary loved to make people laugh and was known for his sense of humor. He was a loving and caring person who was adored by his family and friends.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sheri Wood Mantooth, his two daughters, Molly Davis and Haylee Vasquez (Adrian), and his grandchildren, Lily, Grayson, Logan, and Gunner. He was also cherished by his niece, Destinie Phillips-Billings, his sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Tommy Jenkins, aunts Mary and Brenda Mantooth, several cousins, and his beloved dogs, Ellie, Bella, and Hank.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ornie V and Sara Lou Womack Mantooth, his sister, Virginia, his grandparents, Chief and Nellie Mantooth, Thomas and Jewell Womack, and his friend, Bob Riggins.
Gary drove a truck for 30 years before retiring. He was known to be a stubborn man who didn't listen to his heart at first, but eventually, his heart made him listen.
Gary had a passion for racing and drove sprint cars. He enjoyed spending his free time on the racetrack.
A celebration of life for Gary will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 4 pm at the American Legion Post 199, located at 124 Monroe St., Deport, TX 75435. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Rest in peace, Gary. You will be missed by all who knew you.
