Gary Wayne Penn's Obituary
A loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Gary Wayne Penn passed away Saturday, July 14 at the age of 65. Born in Dallas, Texas on July 8, 1953, Gary received his B.A. from Austin College and his doctorate from Baylor College of Dentistry. “Doc” Penn opened his dentistry practice in Oak Cliff in 1978 and his many grateful clients ranged from local sports figures including the Dallas Stars and Mavericks to Willie Nelson’s road crew, and was recognized by the Oak Cliff Observer. He was a member of the American Dental Association, and the Texas Dental Association. His patients deeply loved Doc as he treated each person with respect and kindness. He spent many years building a practice that was not built on patients, but family and friends. He was a longtime member of the Dallas Athletic Club and enjoyed playing golf as often as possible. He was so proud of his recent 72 at DAC and multiple hole-in-ones. He loved traveling with his wife Valerie who met each other on a hike in Arizona. They had a deep and abiding love and fit a lifetime of love into their marriage. Everyone that knew Gary well saw the magic in their love and they were soul mates in the purest form. They gave each other joy and lived every single day completely, lovingly, and fully. He was devoted to his family and wife, and they to him.He is survived by his beloved wife, Valerie Penn; his mother Frankie Penn; children Devin Claire Garner, Ryan Wayne and wife Kelsey Penn, and Ashley Nicole and husband Colton Keen; three grandchildren London Rose, Maddox Jennings, and Cash Camden; his brothers John and wife Mary Penn, Richard and wife Alexis Penn, and David Penn; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Percy J.
