Gary Keith Streicher's Obituary
Gary Streicher – A well lived life- December 27, 1951-February 19, 2026
From humble beginnings to reaching the pinnacle of achievement in the apparel industry to enjoying his retirement with his family; Gary Streicher had a well lived life. Gary’s kindness and gregariousness made everyone in his orbit love him even more. With a razor-sharp wit and keen sense of humor it was hard not to laugh when you were with him.
Gary was not just the life of the party; he was a fierce competitor driven by an unrivalled work ethic. Gary developed his competitive drive at an early age playing multiple sports but excelled at football and hockey. Gary earned a scholarship to the University of Miami for football, and he was a member of the 1972 and 1973 varsity football squads where he set and broke records. He never forgot his 96-yard interception return for a touchdown against Army. His total interception return yards record stood until 2001. After football, Gary continued to pursue his competitive outlets through golf with his friends. Gary would be quick to remind his buddies and children about his hole-in-one on the Gleneagles golf course.
He was one of those people that made everything look easy, however he was quick to remind you of the struggles and lessons he learned along the way. He was always willing to share his experiences teaching his grandson baseball, his children about life and business and anyone who would listen about properly icing beer for a party and the pitfalls of using too much rock salt.
A passionate traveler, he sought diverse experiences—from observing the eagles of Big Sur and exploring Ireland’s golf courses to enjoying the beaches of Maui and Seaside. He seldom travelled alone and was generous in his inclusion of his travel partners. To Gary, an experience was lessened if not shared with the people he loved. Travel was always memorable with Gary. Whether he was getting his rental car stuck in the Barking Sands, ordering way too much sushi for the first time, or spending an intimate moment with a loved one. You never forgot your trip with Gary.
All felt his generosity of spirit. He felt a keen sense of responsibility to support his loved ones. Gary was the rock of the family and leaves behind a rich legacy through the innumerable people who had the privilege of knowing him. He touched lives, ran back touchdowns, built a family, and left a legacy of the blueprint to a life well lived. He leaves behind countless friends, his siblings and extended family, his children, grandchildren, and his wife Margaret. Everyone that he touched was better for knowing him. Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of the family he built. He will be missed but never forgotten.
