Gary Lindsay Woods' Obituary
Gary was born April 12, 1949, to US Army Sergeant Harry Anthony Woods and Lillian Catherine “Kay” Woods, in Lynwood, California. Gary grew up in Southern California and graduated in 1967 from Nathaniel Narbonne High School in Harbor City, CA where he holds an impressive Track and Field record to this day. He also lived in Colorado and Utah before returning to California, then made his way to Texas in the end to be near family. His love for problem solving took him to study for careers in Engineering at companies like Dade Diagnostics, Baxter, Cisco and NRG Energy. Gary was an excellent chess player and loved the outdoors, going to the beach, surfing, fishing, skiing in the mountains and water, traveling and was a big fan of watching movies. He loved his children and made as many summer memories for them at Disneyland as he possibly could.
Gary was proceeded in death by his parents, Harry Anthony Woods and Lillian Catherine “Kay” Woods. He is survived by his two daughters in Texas, Laurie Elaine Lea, born in Garden Grove, CA and Michelle Elizabeth Gummer, born in Denver, CO; his son in Texas Jason Micah Woods, born in Mission Viejo, CA and his loving brother Steven Alan Woods; all of his grandchildren born in Texas, Gavin, Shane, Marcus and Sophia; son-in-laws Larry Lea Jr. and Ryan Gummer; as well as numerous loving cousins and friends.
Gary’s smile and love of fun will be missed and there will always be a place in our hearts for him. He was loved and will always be remembered. We hope he finds peace in God’s kingdom. A private Memorial gathering will take place with his children and grandchildren at sea in the Gulf of Mexico. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in California. Flowers, cards and prayers are welcome for respective family members at their homes.
