I will never forget how caring and helpful Gaye was to me after my son was born. The comfort and encouragement she provided to me while I tried to learn about the challenges ahead was so incredibly helpful. Gaye was always there for all of us parents with children born with Spina Bifida and was always willing to talk, give advice, or just listen. She was an angel and we will always remember her kindness, her smile, and we will miss her shoulder to lean on.
My heart goes out to this wonderful family. I was fortunate to be part of this wonderful family and organization for many years and some of my most favorite memories are with you. Gaye was an inspiration to us all with her love of her family and each of us and was a pioneer with the Spina Bifida Organization. We had many wonderful conversations about life, love and definitely shared a tear or two AND a giggle or two. And, Matt and Kelly, I did NOT tell her everything during the youth group days! No doubt she is getting the group together in heaven! And, no doubt in my mind that she was met in heaven with "Well done, my good and faithful servant". Forever in my heart…Betty Robertson Cook

Our family met Gaye when we moved to Sherman and became involved with the Spina Bifida Association. We felt immediately loved and welcomed. It is an honor to have known such a loving, caring person. Gaye will be greatly missed and her legacy of caring for others will go on in the NTSBA.
Gaye and mom were best friends. I am sure the are having a god time now. She was a amazing woman, i will miss her.
I met Gaye and Bill when my son was born in November, 1970. I attended our first little meeting to discuss plans for our Spina Bifida Organization. I admired Gaye's love and passion for all of our Spina Bifida Families. I helped organize and work our Camp TLC in Argyle for many years and still cherish those wonderful memories! Our boys were both active in Wheelchair Sports, both basketball and track, so we made such awesome memories together while supporting our #1 sons! I will never forget going to Houston for Wheelchair track. Gaye and Matt were in their car stopped in front of me, Maggie and Tami Fonseca, and Rob. The light turned green and Gaye barely moved forward when a car came up and over the median to hit the front, driver side of my car and totaled it! Of course, we all sorta panicked (LOL)! The funniest part was that after it was all over… we realized that when I asked Gaye to call for help, she simply turned around and yelled for help from a young man on crutches!! We laughed so hard afterwards! He wasn't very fast on his crutches either! Gaye will truly be missed by all who had the honor to know her. I know that Bill and his entire family will miss her immensely. I know she is in Heaven and smiling down on each one of them because she loved them with all of her heart! We are not saying goodbye to .gaye… only saying see you later! Brenda Harville
So many great memories, it's hard to pin point one. But, one thing that will always stand out in my mind is the time we were at SB National Conference at Valley Forge. Gaye took Matt & I sightseeing and in an effort to help us up a steep hill, she told Matt and I to hang on to the side mirrors of her rental car and she would pull us to the top. I laugh every time I think about it. It was so out of character for her to have done such a thing with 2 teens. But, that was one of the reasons she was wonderful. She was an innovator. I will miss her every day.
I had the honor to serve on the SBANT Board with Gaye for 8 years. It was a true blessing to know and work with her. She was kind, friendly, caring, and had the heart of a true angel. It is amazing the impact that she has had on so many people and so many more to come. She was instrumental in setting the foundation for something that will continue on helping and serving families and individuals with spina bifida for years to come. I am so thankful that I got the chance to know her. She will be truly missed.
