Gene Hendrickson's Obituary
Gene Robert Hendrickson, age 82, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016. He was born on June 9, 1934 in Breckenridge, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Richardson, Texas. He has a twin brother (Joe William) and they were lovingly raised by Oscar W. Hendrickson and Nell Hendrickson. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his second wife, Neva Ruth Crawley Hillis. Gene is survived by his brother, Joe William Hendrickson, his sons, David Gene Hendrickson, Greg Christian Hendrickson and Coby Todd Hendrickson, his ex-wife, Edie Slape, nieces Gail Hendrickson and Sue Hendrickson, and other loving relatives. Gene graduated from Ferris High School. After attending Texas A&M in College Station as a member of the Corp of Cadets for one and a half years, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served for eight years and received the Good Conduct Medal. Gene then worked for ten years at Texas Instruments in Research and Development and received a patent for a metal base transistor before starting his own heating and air conditioning business. In later years, he enjoyed seeing the country with his travel trailer. He was a member of the Palmer Preservation Society. He was also a Master Mason for more than fifty years (John L. De Grazier). His sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will take place at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243 from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. Funeral services will be held at Restland at noon on Thursday, July 7, 2016 in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Boy Scouts of America and/or to Community Christian Church, 1300 Holly Drive, Richardson, TX, 75080.
