Gene Paul McCutchin's Obituary
Gene Paul McCutchin passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. Gene was born in 1932 in Tyler, Texas. His parents were Alexander and Alma McCutchin. Alexander McCutchin got his start in the oil and gas industry during the East Texas oil boom. Gene and his older brother Jerry started participating in the family business at a very young age. In 1940, the family settled in Dallas, Texas, where, after attending Kemper Military School, Gene would graduate from Greenhill School. When Gene was only 16 years old, his father Alexander passed away suddenly. In 1952, Gene was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served for two years as a tank commander. Upon his discharge from the Army, Gene reunited with the family business, but eventually struck out on his own. In addition to his personal success in the oil and gas business, Gene also became a successful real estate investor. Gene will be fondly remembered by those who knew and loved him for his love of jokes, horses, ranching, cars, motorcycles, and planes. There was never a dull moment when you were with Gene McCutchin.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents Alexander McCutchin and Alma “Mom” McCutchin, his older brother Jerry McCutchin, and his son Cody McCutchin. Gene is survived by his daughter Kit McCutchin Meyer and her husband Rick Meyer; his brothers, Benjamin McCutchin and wife, Delinda, Ronald McCutchin and wife, Carolyn; his sister-in-law, Sharon Losak McCutchin; his grandchildren, Alexander McCutchin and wife, Adrienne, Collen Meyer and wife, Whitney, Derek Williams, Hollis Meyer and wife, Sara, Savannah McCutchin and husband, Braden, and Gene McCutchin; his great-grandchildren Owen, Quinn, and Caroline; and his many nieces and nephews.
