This is Joy Kirkland Apple. I was so sorry to read Gene’s obituary in the paper today. I just watched the wonderful video tribute of his life. Of course, I remember him a few years after he graduated from A & M and you all had met!!!

Gene and Jean have been our neighbors for 12 years and we think they are two of the nicest people we've known. We were truly saddened to learn of his passing last Saturday. While he faced an extended period of very difficult illness, his positive, friendly and fun spirit never seemed to waiver. We extend our deepest sympathy to Jean and the entire Wismer family. You will miss him greatly but you will have wonderful memories of the very special and good man that he was.

It was a privilege and a pleasure to have known Gene. We met first at Hillcrest Hilgh School, class of 1953. Later on in life, we were reunited through Addison Rotary. I will treasure those memories.

I had the privilege of knowing Gene first in Rotary Club and also as an employee for several years. He was indeed a fine honest gentleman and Businessman.
