Geneva Ruth (Cain) Coulson's Obituary
Geneva Ruth Cain Coulson, born January 1, 1929, in Midland, Texas passed away April 5, 2021. She was the youngest of seven children born to Elby and Ethel Hodnett Cain. A tomboy and animal lover from birth, the youthful nickname “Tooter” given by a brother stuck like glue for the entirety of her life. She was one of twelve graduates of Aubrey High School in 1946.
She made an indelible impression on everyone she met and never met a stranger. Her talents were many, but her passion for photography propelled a 50 year career that started with a traveling gig in about 1950 and ended with Jennie Coulson Photography, her Oak Cliff studio/Christian ministry headquarters of 25 years. She took great pride in the many yearbook photos she took for David W. Carter and Adamson High Schools throughout the 1970’s and treated every sitting, especially the seniors, with utmost dignity and care no matter their ability to purchase. “Her” yearbooks were stunning. She went nowhere without her camera and no occasion or location was off-limits for an impromptu photo shoot, a legacy that will only now be fully appreciated.
She was an eloquent and highly spiritual writer, who composed thousands of poems documenting every relationship and landmark event of her life, most often and especially that of her beloved savior, Jesus Christ.
She never missed an opportunity to share the good news of salvation with anyone who would listen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; all 5 of her brothers, Ralph, Bud, Joe, Glen, and Otho, their spouses whom she dearly loved; her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Sissy and Glenn; her two sons Mark and Mike; her niece, Glenda; great-niece, Lisa; and nephew Ralph, Jr.
She is survived by daughters, Kay and Dede; grandchildren, Jonathan, Kristina, Chris, Michelle, Tyler, and Tori; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Jimmy, Cindy, Brent, Steve, Gary, Michael, Amber, Stacey, Meredith, James, Gary Don, Michael Shane, and Jennifer.
A graveside service will be officiated by her great-nephew, James Cox, at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 13, in Wisdom Gardens at Restland Memorial Park.
