Genie graduated from SMU in June of 1950 with a degree in business. In the same year she met the love of her life, Edwin Moore Farrow, her husband of 68 years.Music always played an important role in Genie’s life, prompting her to enroll again at SMU to pursue a Voice degree in 1958. In 1960 Genie wrote her own documentary, “This is My Country,” which traced the history of America from the Pilgrims to present, demonstrating the interdependence of faith and freedom. This concert earned a national award from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge in 1970. A highlight of her singing career came in 1979 when the SBFMB invited Genie, along with Becky and Bob, to sing in South Africa. When she wasn’t singing, Genie delighted in spending time with her family, sharing the gospel and modeling the love of Christ. She also enjoyed making her homemade jellies and pies.
