Georganne L. Mires' Obituary
Georganne L. Mires, 64, lifelong resident of Texas, died Sunday, June 11, 2023 in Plano after a brief battle with cancer.
Born April 13, 1959 in Dallas, Texas to Arthur E. and Betty D. Mires, the family lived in Irving, San Antonio, and Farmers Branch. She was proud to say she was a native Texan. Georganne graduated from W.T. White High School in Dallas and was a member of the Longhorn Marching Band. This passion resulted in lifelong friends that became known as "Supper Club"
She received her undergraduate degree in International Studies from SMU and was a highly regarded International Travel Agent in the DFW area. She provided countless clients with wonderfully thought-out trips for over 30 years with Colwick Travel. Georganne's favorite past times were "traveling" and it didn't matter where, her "adopted" family, the Lord, and her work and teachings with Bent Tree Bible Fellowship where she was a leader of the Ladies Bible Study groups.
Georganne touched many lives with her spirited personality and loving nature.
She is survived by cousins from the Houston and Corpus Christi area, her "adopted" family Shelly and Hotch Van Blarcum of Prosper; Niece and her family Tiffany and Jason Ogletree, great niece Londyn and great nephew Kingston of Prosper. Nephew and his family, Gerald H. and Melissa Van Blarcum, great nephews Hotchie and Oliver of Prosper. She is also survived by a host of extended family and friends.
Georganne was preceded in death by her parents Arthur E. and Bettye D. Mires, and Grandparents.
Memorials can be made in her name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, American Cancer Society, and or Bent Tree Bible Fellowship Church.
Visitation with family and friends will be at 1:15 to 1:45pm immediately preceding the Funeral Service at
Bent Tree Fellowship Bible Church.
Funeral services will be at 2:00pm, Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Bent Tree Fellowship Bible Church in Carrollton with Pastor Amy Cedrone officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Cemetery in Dallas.
