Pastor George D Barnes' Obituary
Life Reflections of Pastor George D. Barnes.
Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you…George Dewey Barnes was born on December 3, 1939, in Doloroso, Mississippi to the late George “Cap” Barnes and Mariah Boyd Barnes. He departed his earthly life peacefully at his home on February 11, 2024, surrounded by family.
At the age of 16, George confessed Christ at Free Spring Baptist Church, in Doloroso, Mississippi. He then moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he finished school in 1958 at Capitol Senior High School. George joined Star Hill Baptist Church in 1965. He was employed at Helouin Veterinary Hospital until he opened an Esso Service Station in 1967.
He who finds a wife finds a good thing…On December 26, 1968, George and Carol were united in holy matrimony. Due to economic conditions, they moved to Dallas, Texas where they purchased a home and continued their life together.
George and Carol became members of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in 1974 under the leadership of Pastor R. E. Price. It was there where he was elected and ordained to the Deacon Board in 1978.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD… In 1980, God called George into the ministry. He was directed by and submitted himself to the word of God. In 2005 they broke ground for the building of God’s church. In 2007 Trinitarian Christian Church was completed and services started that year. The mortgage on the building was paid off in 2022, thirteen years earlier than planned. To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…Thirty-nine years later, God spoke to Pastor Barnes and on Sunday, May 22, 2022, he officially retired from the pulpit.
