George Bivins' Obituary
Delmas George Bivins ("George") passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021, in Waco, Texas. George was born on December 13, 1929, in Delhi, Oklahoma to Grandville Bush Bivins and Nina Gail Campbell Bivins.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 17 from 1:00 — 2:00 pm in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm.
George was employed by Texas Bitulithic for 45 years, where he was a master mechanic and master welder, working on heavy equipment. George, who was affectionately referred to as "Shorty" by his friends, family and coworkers, liked to fish, shoot craps, and shoot the breeze. He idolized the actor John Wayne.
George lived in Irving, Texas for 43 years prior to moving to Whitney, Texas in 1999. George was predeceased by his parents, his step-mother, Vergie Pierce, and by his wife of 42 years, Ada Lucille Dillon Bivins, who passed away on January 7, 1989. He was also predeceased by his brother, Teddy Joe Bivins of Oklahoma.
George is survived by his four children with Ada - Joe Bivins of Athens, Texas, Kay Cleveland of Conway, Arkansas, Cindy Bivins of DeSoto, Texas, and Babe Baker of Conway, Arkansas, as well as grandchildren Ada Ray Bivins, Allen Bivins, and Levi Bivins, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
George is also survived by his companion of 32 years, Deborah Ann Howard ("Annie") of Whitney, Texas, and her children Erica Jander and Christine Art, and grandchildren Taylor Carson and Angelaca Carson. He is predeceased by Annie's children Kim Bradley, Christopher Shane Ruiz, and Joann Carson.
