George Celia's Obituary
Born March 17, 1921 in Ragusa, Italy and passed away at home on January 14, 2016, beside his wife of 58 years. George was a loving, thoughtful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family with great pride and with all of his heart. He was called Dad and Grandpa by many others whom he loved as his own. He could only see the bright side of life and good in people. There was always a smile and thank you for everyone. He loved God, the church and his family and had a very strong faith. George was a composer and writer. His music was played and recognized by dignitaries around the world and his writings were published in various venues and enjoyed by many. He attended Northwestern University and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. Following his studies at Northwestern he attended the MBA program at the University of Chicago. He was recognized on many occasions by Who’s Who of America and Who’s Who of the World. The world has lost a treasure but heaven has gained a true angel. George was preceded in death by his parents, Giorgio Giuseppe and Lucia Giovanna (Sola), his brothers Vincent James and Ralph, his sisters Nancy and Rosalind, nephew Jack Thorpe (son of Nancy), sister-in-law Doris Schlesinger and husband Clifford, and brother-in-law Robert Youngberg. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Walker Celia; his daughter Georgene “Gene” Ingram and her husband Donovan; grandchildren Sgt. David Ingram and wife Ashley, Kristin Ingram, and Mark Ingram; great-grandchildren Addison Grace and Wesley David Ingram; brother-in-law Bob Walker and his wife Shirley and sister-in-law Ruth Youngberg of Midland, Texas; many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his loving cousins of Italy. Family will receive friends on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 12:30 PM in the Wildwood Chapel. Memorials may be made to The Methodist Richardson Cancer Center or The First United Methodist Church in Richardson, Texas – Building Fund.
