George Temple Conner's Obituary
George Temple Conner was born in Dallas, Texas on November 12, 1936 to William H. and Fayelee Conner. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1954 and Southern Methodist University in 1961 with a degree in Civil Engineering. George went on to spend 35 years working for Southwestern Bell in various roles, followed by 10 years with the City of Allen as the Public Works Director, from which he retired.George was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and member of First Baptist Church of Allen, TX. He was a loving husband to his wife of 37 years, caring father to his 6 children and beloved “Papa” to his 22 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. George was known for his devotion, hard work and fun-loving spirit. He is remembered fondly for his commitment, generosity, support and sense of humor. He was known for his deep love for family and travel.George went to be forever with his Lord and Savior on January 20, 2018 at 3:25 pm. He is survived by his wife, Marva Jean Conner of Allen, TX; his siblings, Zoe Conner of San Francisco, CA; Mark Conner and wife, Angie, of Niceville, FL; his children, Mike Conner of Arlington, TX; Douglas Conner and wife, Rebecca of Memphis, TN; Rick Conner of Vista, CA; Donna Edwards and husband, Alan of Durant, OK, Caren Barnes and husband, Guy, of New Caney, TX; Billy Holbert and wife, Jennifer, of Allen, TX. George is also survived by his 22 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Allen, TX. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Allen, TX. Pallbearers will be; Casey Conner, Aaron Ogle, Ryan Ogle, Sean Barnes, Ryan Barnes, Sterling Conner, Stetson Conner and Logan Hulbert. Ushers will be; Weston Holbert, Taylor Holbert, Rehan Mahmood, and Jason Conner. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Allen at 201 E. McDermott, Allen, TX 75002 in memory of George Conner designated for ‘”children’s camps/youth missions.”
