George Jackson's Obituary
George Jackson was born on October 18, 1921 in Doyline, LA and passed away on July 2, 2016 in Dallas, TX. George Jackson was the seventh of twelve children born to the late Cleveland and Mary Etta Sanders Jackson, on October 18, 1921 in Koran, Louisiana. He accepted Christ at an early age, at St. Mary C.M.E. Church in Doyline, Louisiana. George received his education in the Webster Parish School District, Koran, Louisiana. He later joined the United States Army. George retired from LTV/Vought Aerospace Center in Grand Prairie, Texas. George was a charter member of the Church of the Living God. He was very active in church. He served as a deacon, usher, finance chairman and all around servant of God. George loved playing dominos and spent many days at the Highland Park Community Center playing with friends and anyone that would challenge him. He was married to the love of his life, Sharlee Jackson for 53 years, until she preceded him in death in 2009. George was also preceded by his siblings, Ruby Merritt, Pinkie Sabbath, Ida Yearling, Vatie Ward, Ora Jones, Mattie Lee, Herman Jackson and Ira Jackson. George’s memory will forever be in the heart of those he loved and leaves behind: brother, Obell Jackson, of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Lula M. Arterberry of Inglewood, California and Essie P. Williams of Los Angeles, California; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Although no children were born to the union of George and Sharlee, he was a father and grandfather to many. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharlee Jackson, father and mother, Cleveland and Mary Etta Sanders Jackson, brothers, Herman and Ira Jackson, Sisters, Ruby Merritt, Pinkie Sabbath, Ida Yearling, Vatie Ward, Ora Jones, Mattie Lee. George was survived by his brother, Obell Jackson of Dallas, TX; sisters, Lula B. Arterberry of Inglewood, CA., and Essie Williams of Los Angeles, CA., and a host of nieces, nephews and a host of family. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 6:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service for Mr. Jackson will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00 am at Church of the Living God, 3636 Sunnyvale, Dallas, TX 75216 Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
