George Ivan Johnson's Obituary
JOHNSON, GEORGE IVAN Beloved husband, father & grandfather was born August 30, 1923 and passed away November 7, 2007. George grew up in Los Angeles, CA & Taos, NM. He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945 and was on the USS Mahan #364 which was sunk in Ormot Bay on December 7, 1944. All of the men, except for 12, were rescued. He attended the University of Southern California and graduated in 1949 in communications. He came to Bastrop, LA to work in radio, then married in 1950. He worked at KNOE Television CBS TV in Monroe, LA until his retirement in 1988. Our deepest gratitude to Faith Hospice and all the staff who cared for George daily for the past year. George is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Anne Holmes and survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise Johnson; daughters, Connie Callan, Kathy Reagan & husband David, and Christy Schmitz & husband Ray; grandchildren, Brooke, Paige, Morgan, John, William, Taylor, Haley, Jake, Caroline, and Clay; and aunt, Alice Deveau. Family to receive friends from 6:30-8:00 PM Friday, November 9, 2007 at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Restland Memorial Park.
