As a young student at the University of Tennessee at Martin in the mid-1970s, I had the privilege of knowing Dr. Kao as both professor and mentor. His life experiences gave him a unique perspective to share with his students, and I learned a great deal from him before going on to law school and (later) graduate school. As interesting as he was in class, however, he was even more remarkable as a human being. I don't think I have ever met a more genuinely nice person, and I will not be alone in shedding a grateful tear today. Dr. Jerald Ogg
