George Ricky Kondrach's Obituary
George took his last flight June 1, 2022 after a hard fought battle against metastatic melanoma. He amazed his doctors with his strength of will throughout his treatment. He was born and raised in Endicott, New York December 12, 1952 to George and Teresa Kondrach and, yes, his mother named him after Ricky Ricardo. He was predeceased by his parents and an older sister, Cindi Esposito.
To get away from the cold he came to Texas, sight unseen, to attend TCU. There he met his love Debby (Bailey) Kondrach whom he married in 1976. They have two sons Brad and Brian (Sarah) and were blessed in March to celebrate the birth of their first grandchild Victoria. He leaves behind a brother-in law Butch Esposito, niece Kelly (Mitch) Esposito Bennett, her son Grey as well as nephews Tom and Mark Esposito and several Kondrach cousins. He will be missed greatly by sister/brother-in-laws Carole (Keith) Robison, Tommy (Cindy) Bailey, and Susan (Mark) Pace, and many Bailey family nieces, nephews, an aunt and uncle and cousins whom he loved and looked forward to seeing at yearly family events.
He graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1971. While at TCU he was a member of the Vigilantes, learned to fly small airplanes and to scuba dive. During summers there he began a sales, management and motivational career selling books door to door. He moved from that to become a well respected and highly regarded business management/consultant at Leadership Management Inc., Highland Consulting, Innodata Isogen, Inc and Talyst Systems. He was involved with Vistage Worldwide, Inc., AMPLIKAI PBC, a member of Private Directors Association. He had volunteered with the Commemorative Air Force and Enactus United States.
George was early to have a computer and was always reading, researching and learning new things. You would be hard pressed to find a topic of discussion that he had no knowledge of. George was a big personality that will leave a hole in the lives of those that knew him. He was witty, had an incredible sense of humor and loved teasing all of the family as well as friends and co-workers. He supported all the family in their activities and endeavors and was an extra special Chi Omega husband.
He started cycling in his 30’s and was doing so until his diagnosis. He snow skied, water skied, hunted and would try most anything once. He especially loved the beach and was the sandcastle king. He traveled internationally for work and was able to see many interesting places. He loved games-especially poker-and you really wanted him on your team with any kind of trivia or word game. His father was in the produce business which lead him to be quite a cook and many will certainly miss this chef’s creations. One thing George thoroughly enjoyed in recent years was being a host family for a training program for British soccer referees working the Dallas Cup Youth Tournament.
Son Brian described him well as a hardworking, hilarious guy that expected the best out of people and made sure to take care of the those he loved. Brad reiterated that he could never bring up something that George didn’t already know about. His absence will leave a huge hole in all our lives and he will missed terribly. We look forward to seeing him again.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 10 at Winfrey Point at White Rock Lake. If desired, memorials for George can be made to the Melanoma Research Alliance or American Cancer Society.
