George Edward Polvi's Obituary
George Edward Polvi, 91, went to Heaven on November 12, 2020 following a short illness. He was born in Hopewell, Oregon to Esther and George Polvi, Sr on February 26, 1929.
After growing up in the small farming community, George married his childhood sweetheart and love of his life Margaret Janzen (Polvi) on August 29, 1948. George graduated from the Oregon State University with a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1952. George and Margaret moved to Dallas, Tx in 1955 where he began his career in irrigation sales throughout the farming communities in the state of Texas. In 1961, George joined the New York Life Insurance company where he was one of their top performers. George earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) certification and license which recognized him for extensive knowledge in financial planning. George was an active agent through 2015 at the age of 85.
George was devoted to his family and had a love of music, animals, Harleys, Cadillacs, coins, and stamps. He was known for his sense of humor which often was used to entertain his entire family at numerous family gatherings. He loved to travel especially to the mountains spending time observing nature and the majesty of the mountains. George became a Christian at 33 while going through cancer therapy. George was an active member of Northlake Baptist Church and later in life a member of the Park Cities Baptist Church Dallas. He spent his last few years at The Tradition Assisted Living home where they provided extraordinary care for “King George”.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years Margaret Jean Polvi, of Dallas; his son Mark Anthony Polvi and wife Wendy; his daughter Margaret Cherie Thompson; and daughter Lisa Anne Long and husband Douglas. George is survived by 5 grandchildren Jonathan Long, Gracie Smith, Winston Polvi, Hunter Polvi, and Aspen VanHooser and their individual spouses. George is also survived by two brothers, Gary and Ronald, while preceded in death by brothers, Bob and Alan and son-in-law Michael Thompson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM (viewing at 1 PM) Monday, November 23, at the Restland Wildwood Chapel, with burial immediately following with Dr. Jim Wofford presiding.
