George Price Read's Obituary
George Price Read of Dallas, TX went to be with our higher power on Friday, December 19th, 2014 at the age of 88. He was born on December 24th, 1925 in Lakewood, Ohio. George was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps, attended Kenyon College, and graduated from The Ohio State University. Prior to signing up for service in WWII, he graduated Lakewood High School in Ohio and was active in music and the marching band. George carried this passion for music throughout his life and eventually helped make sure that every child in the Lakewood schools system could go to Severance Hall to see the Cleveland Orchestra, receive music education from the best teachers, have access to the full range of musical instruments and even have an opportunity to be a part of the nation’s first high school rock orchestra, the Lakewood Project. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, George is survived by Phyllis, his loving wife of 57 years, daughter Kimberly Moody and son-in-law Jimmy Moody, son Thomas L. Read II and Alise Robinson, and grandchildren Robert, Amy and Autum. Memorial services for George Read will be held in early January 2015 at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. An updated announcement with the specifics for the memorial will follow.
